Cayman Islands cracks down on offences


The Cayman Islands Immigration Department is taking a harder line against immigration offences. 

According to its recently released second-quarter Enforcement Division report, 289 breaches of the law were investigated in that time period and more than $67,000 worth of fines were collected. 102 people were arrested for overstaying, 29 of whom were charged. 24 persons were charged with employing a person, and 40 persons were arrested for working outside their permit terms and conditions. 14 people were charged with making false representations.
