Home inspections discontinued
In a remarkable about-face in its recently implemented policy, the government of the British Virgin Islands has discontinued inspections on households occupied by persons wishing to renew their work permits.
The Premier of the territory Dr D Orlando Smith announced on February 8 that the inspections would no longer be carried out because of the pressure and delays it was causing to the labour and immigration process. This move follows criticism from residents who argued that the practice was invasive.
